Seventeen Beaver Golf students participated in the Drive, Chip, Putt qualifier at The Park in West Palm Beach. For a few it was sunny, for some it is was pouring rain, for others it was overcast and for one player a lightning delay slowed play. You never know what the weather will bring in Florida so it is always best to be prepared for anything. Brooks was competing for the second time. It was all about having fun for him since his hockey schedule does not allow a lot of time to practice golf. He was super excited about his 20 point chip and he is looking forward to playing more golf this summer. While many of the participants were veterans, we had some students throw their hat in the competition for the first time. I always say that Drive, Chip, Putt is a great way to get introduced to competitive golf because the nerves are real and there is a scoreboard that everyone gets to see. If you have the right perspective, you will not leave sad, instead you will leave with a drive to improve and practice. Jaxon is now even more committed to active participation in our weekly classes and taking next steps. That is natural. If you aren't nervous, it means you don't care. I am proud of each and every one of my students for trying. You can learn so much through the trying. For the seven students that claimed the ribbons and/or moved on to the next round of competition, remember to cherish the moment and the feeling, that is what matters most!!!
